Boost in Zim-Russia relations

The 5th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation ended on Thursday in Russia with relations between Zimbabwe and the Federation set for further growth.
The agreed minutes were signed and these are the official record of decisions made, which is a crucial point of reference for involved parties.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira said both sides showed willingness to strengthen cooperation in various fields in line with the high-level agreements reached in January 2019 during President Mnangagwa’s official visit to Russia.
“We have discussed very important economic issues that jointly concern Zimbabwe and the Russian Federation. Zimbabwe and Russian have very deep and excellent relations that are based on mutual respect and trust.
“Our commission discussed areas of cooperation and the things that we have already done. We have celebrated the launch of our satellite, ZimSat-2. We have also considered all areas that we need to deepen our cooperation in.”
Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, Alexander Alexandrovich Kozlov said:”Our countries have a long record of very good relations and we have an excellent future ahead of us.
“A future based on mutual respect, understanding and support and this gives us good ground to look into the future with certainty that we have projects that will benefit both Zimbabwe and Russia.”
He called on Zimbabweans and Russians to take advantage of the cordial relations between the two countries to engage in mutually beneficial projects.
“Today (Thursday) we have another opportunity to exchange our opinions on the areas of joint work. It is a great challenge that we are facing but we are convinced that we will be able to meet this challenge.”
