Premier Netball League leaders Zimbabwe Defence Forces Queens, have received a major boost after getting an assortment of travelling and match kits from Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga.
Dubbed “Restore the Queens to their Succes Status,” the donation seeks to ensure the team is fully equipped to restore its former glory. Addressing the team and its management during the ceremony, Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga said her firm, Style by Minnie, takes pleasure in keeping kids off the streets and supporting local sports.
“Style by Minnie takes pride in assisting and supporting local sports clubs in the communities we serve. This donation is one of many that we made, and we are going to increase this type of donation in an attempt to get our youngsters off the street and into sports fields,” she said.
This initiative, Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga added, will restore the Queens to its original glory.
“This initiative is aimed at restoring the Queens to its former glory while also motivating individual players so that they can perform to their limits,” she said.
“And, this is our small way of ensuring that. Most above all, as a woman and as a mother, I support women’s sport and I support the girl child. I believe that if girls are just wandering in the streets, they will be tempted to do things that we are not proud of as mothers.”
The Queens captain, Caroline Matura said the team will wear their kit with pride at local community matches, the tournaments, and other regional competitions where they will participate.
“We appreciate everything you did for us as a team. We will continue to support your business and efforts in improving our community. Thank you, and God Bless you,” she said.
