Government positions are not for sale and Zimbabweans should report any officials from the commission that charge them for recruitment,the Public Service Commission said yesterday

The call follows revelations that nine officials in the commission’ secretariat were suspended on charges of corruption relating to clandestine recruitment of people in the public service.

In a statement yesterday, PSC secretary Ms Pretty Sunguro, said no one was supposed to be charged when being recruited into the public service.

“The Commission has a standing policy of zero tolerance to corruption,” she said. “The Public Service Commission does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, interview, processing, appointment, training or other human resources process).

“Jobs in the public service are not and have never been for sale. Should there be anyone out there who has ever been approached by anyone to pay at any stage, allegedly to facilitate any human resource process, Public Services or release of pension money, they should come forward and report this activity.”

Ms Sunguro implored members of the public and Government employees not to engage in any form of corruption and to report any such cases when solicited.

She said people should report corruption cases to the following people:

Some of the officials who were suspended and are now facing criminal charges are Nancy Chinyoka, Venagi Dembure, Munyaradzi Marume, Joseph Ziera, Patrick Jachi, Bright Tembo and Tonderai Chizhande.
