Billiat closing in on milestone Khama Billiat

JOHANNESBURG. — Kaizer Chiefs forward, Khama Billiat, is closing in on an impressive PSL landmark after his latest striker in a win over Chippa United.

Billiat was on target in the 4-0 win over Chippa United on a day that he also provided another two assists for Keagan Dolly as the duo sent reminders about the damage that they can still cause.

In scoring his third for the season, the Chiefs kingpin went up to 92 goals since he arrived in the PSL a decade ago.

At 92 goals he has now overtaken fellow countryman Wilfred Mugeyi who reached 91 goals throughout his career in the PSL.

“The Silver Fox’’ scored almost all of his goals for Bush Bucks with a handful coming in the twilight of his career at Ajax Cape Town.

Having held the crown of being Zimbabwe’s top marksman in the PSL since he retired some 15 years ago, Mugeyi has now handed the honours to Billiat, who is also leading the all-time scoring charts of all those still playing top-flight football.

While Mugeyi had spells in China and Israel through his time playing locally, Billiat has been forever present in the PSL since joining Ajax Cape Town at the start of the 2010/11 season with the best moments of his career having come while he was at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The century club in domestic football has Collins Mbesuma on 103 with only goals that he scored while playing for a topflight South African club being factored and not those that he has scored either in the ABC Motsepe League or GladAfrica Championship where he has been playing since 2017.

The rest of the cast is now all retired with Manuel ‘Tico-Tico’ Bucuane (104), Mabhuti Khenyeza (110), Daniel Mudau (110) and Siyabonga Nomvethe (123). — KickOff.com
