JOHANNESBURG. — Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lucky Maselesele feels Amakhosi have enough firepower going into the new season, especially after bringing in Khama Billiat from Mamelodi Sundowns. One of Chiefs’ main concerns last season was the number of opportunities they were wasting in front of goal.

They finished the campaign with 27 goals in 30 matches and supporters will no doubt be expecting improvements in the coming campaign.

Billiat has the ability to score and create, but he will definitely need support from the likes of Leonardo Castro, Ryan Moon and Bernard Parker if Chiefs are to get back to their glory days.

“The acquisition of Billiat was a good move from Chiefs, in terms of the quality that he has. He is a well established player and he will add a lot of value there.

“With the experience of guys like Castro and Parker, as well as the presence of Moon, I think Chiefs will have enough fire-power.

“Those are quality players we are talking about,” Maselesele says.
Maselesele reckons Amakhosi need a few more signings before the season gets underway.
“My main worry is the left side. That’s where I feel they need to add. Also I feel they need someone at the back and in midfield since they missed out on signing Andile Jali.

“Had they signed Jali, I feel he was going to push the rest of the guys.”
Former Chiefs winger Edmore Chirambadare is still searching for a club after he failed to land a contract with Maritzburg United.

After parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs a few weeks ago, the Zimbabwean winger has stopped training with the club.
Media reports emerged last week that the former Chicken Inn player was training with the Team of Choice with an aim to impress coach Fadlu Davids.

However, it has now been revealed that Davids has already filled his foreign quota and won’t be signing the left-footed winger.

It has also been reported that the club is still assessing, Keagan Buchanan and former Bidvest Wits midfielder Jabulani Shongwe.

Nonetheless, Chirambadare will now have to continue his search to find a new football home in the South African Premier Soccer League.

The Warriors international is a free agent after leaving the Soweto giants after just two seasons at the club.
Last season, he failed to command a regular spot in the starting XI and was subsequently deemed surplus to requirements at Naturena.

“Ed (Edmore) has left Maritzburg United. The coach was very polite and honest. The club has already exhausted the foreign quota,” Ngobeni told IOL.

“He told us that he likes the boy, but doesn’t want to sign him and loan him out,” Ngobeni explained.
“We are still assessing few options and we will take it from there,” continued the agent.

Having the likes of Richard Ofori (Ghana), Brian Onyango (Kenya), Andrea Fileccia (Belgium), and Australia’s Liam Youlley as well as Yazid Atouba of Cameroon on their books, the side from the KwaZulu-Natal midlands could not find a space for Chirambadare. — Kick-Off/Laduma.
