THE Big Turn Up Concert lived up to its billing at Newlands Country Club as it had a medley of all forms of entertainment genres that included fashion, food, music and dance. Although it had a low turnout because of the chilly weather, it had thrilling performances from local artistes.

The event, which was in its sixth edition, saw trending artiste Adriane Tate putting up a scintillating performance as he dished out songs like “Ekeskuzu Me”, “Pakura”, Manyemwe”, “Ndozviripo”, “Wakadaro”, “Hakuna Mumwe” and “Yuhwi”. Some of the performers included Noxy, Stansplash, Victor Stot and Sanii Makhalima, who also proved their mettle on stage.

The concert, which ran under the theme “AfroTing” saw different celebrities, models and socialites in attendance dressed in African attire. Local designer Cecilia Kwashira of Lady Ceekay fashion label, who had dressed some of the models at the event, said fashion and music go hand in hand.

Event organiser Tawanda Mike Madzara said everything went according to plan. “Big Turn Up is a monthly event meant to create a celebrity hotspot and is mainly about social networking, the good life, swag, healthy lifestyle exhibition and social marketing,” he said.

Madzara, who turned 33 on Africa Day, said it was double celebration.

“The event provided a platform for those in the fashion and food industries to showcase their products. It was double celebration and I took people by surprise as you witnessed, for the first time on such event, I introduced ‘The Cube’ whereby those with VIP invites can have access to mingle with the elite and entrepreneurs from different industries. I also want to thank my sponsors and partners,” he said.
