Baring School to build $100 000 ECD block

BARING Primary School in Mutare is constructing a $100 000 Early Childhood Development (ECD) block to cater for the growing numbers of learners seeking to enrol at the school.

The block will complement the school’s existing one, which is failing to cope with the high enrolment figures.

Parents are funding the construction of the block.

In an interview with The Herald, Baring Primary School head Mr Edward Mudede said: “Through funding from parents we are constructing our second ECD block, which consists of eight classrooms similar to the one that we already have. We have noticed that the population in our area is getting larger with each passing day.”

The project will cost over $100 000 and is expected to be completed by December.

Mr Mudede said children deserved a good start in life despite the current economic hardships.

First preference would be given to children from Westlea, Hospital Hill, Fairbridge Park and Yeovil.

“However, we also welcome those in high density suburbs,”  Mr Mudede said.
