An independent candidate for Glen View South Constituency has promised to improve the livelihood of people in the area by developing schools and clinics.

Phillip Chamunorwa Ndengu (37), who resides in Glen View 3, is aiming to fill the vacancy left by the late Vimbai Java of MDC-Alliance.

In an interview, Mr Ndengu says he grew up in Glen View so he is aware of the problems that are being faced by the community, some of them schools and clinics which are no longer sufficient to accommodate the ever growing population.

“When I was born in the 1980s our clinics served five to ten thousand people and since then the population has increased by a almost 1000 percent and there is no ambulance.

“At school we were only 30 to 50 students in a class but currently there are more than 80 students in a class it is high time we add more classrooms to the existing schools as well as develop other schools,” he said

Mr Ndengu is promising the people of Glen View South Constituency development of infrastructure especially recreational places.

He says this is meant to eradicate idleness among the youths.

The aspiring legislator said he will also do anything in his power to address the issue of preservation of wetlands.

“People say this is a council matter but Members of Parliament are key players in the society hence they are supposed to chip in, wetlands are very important because water is becoming a scarce commodity, I would push for strict laws to protect our wetlands.”

Mr Ndengu also promises to take vigorous action to address the main problem in Glen View which is the water crisis.

He says as one of his community service in the past years he had drilled wells around the area but they have since dried up.

“When I am MP I will go an extra mile to make sure that there are bowsers, at least one bowser per six houses,” he pledged.

Mr Ndengu encouraged people to practise their constitutional right to vote.
