AN armed robber who was part of a gang targeting imbibers leaving the popular Bako Night Club in Sakubva has been jailed for four years.

Cosmas Dhlakama (43) was jailed when he appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe charged with robbery.

Dhlakama had denied the charges, but was convicted after a full trial.

Mr Mahwe set aside six months of Dhlakama’s jail term for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within that period.

Another six months were also suspended on condition that he restitutes Kokerai Madenenge, whom he robbed of $256.

On January 26 this year at around midnight, Dhlakama teamed up with his accomplices who are still at large and hatched a plan to rob Madenenge.

Armed with knives, they approached Madenenge, who was near Bako Night Club in Sakubva and attacked  him.

They then searched him and stole his Huawei cellphone and $156.

Madenenge managed to identify Dhlakama during the attack.

Investigations were made leading to his arrest and subsequent appearance in court.

Mr Frank Munyuku prosecuted.
