FORMER CAPS United forward Anderson Phiri has died.

Phiri died at Harare Central Hospital on Sunday and is expected to be buried today in Nyabira.

He was 40.

The former player is survived by two daughters — Millicent and Mildred aged 18 and 12.

Family spokesperson Naume Phiri said they had lost a great man.

“We lost a great man who was a family unifier and the gap he left will be hard to fill. We took him to hospital on Sunday,” said Naume.

“He suffered from tuberculosis and we are organising his burial set for Nyabira.”

Phiri’s career began at Redwing Mine before he moved to Alaska, Mhangura and then CAPS United.
