Happy New Year cool team. The year 2014 has come and gone and we are 362 days away from concluding another year. Surprised, yes you should be because you should start on a good note in order to be accredited for your best results. We saw it necessary to honour those who made 2014 a great year. It was a year filled with lots of fun and swag and we will always cherish that and your contribution to a cool paper.

Be guided the categories and votes were judged based on the inbox and feedback platforms. Below are some of the stories which we deeply feel that they really made our year.

Cool Event of the Year

We are proud that CLS had an opportunity sometime in July last year to attend the 13th World’s Festival of Children’s Theatre in Germany where Chipawo were performing. The month-long tour saw Chipawo raising the country’s flag high with their intriguing and scintillating performance. This was actually the coolest tour not forgetting the Mauritius trip courtesy of Multichoice DSTV where the team also had a chance to meet Spartaccus and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The stories received overwhelming responses from teenagers across the globe.

Sport event of the Year

It is beyond any doubt that the 2014 African Union Region V Games were the sport event of the year. This event brought together youths from different parts of the world and of course Zimbabwe shined after scooping many medals, making us all proud.

Best Achiever of the Year

Many teens achieved a lot this year but there is only one who stood above the rest and that is nine-year old Tanya Muzinda who is a motocross rider.

The young rider was appointed the project Ambassador of the European Union-supported food security project.

Outstanding School of the Year

The most outstanding school for 2014 award goes to Monte Casino Secondary School for achieving a 100 percent pass rate from 82 students for the November 2013 Zimsec Ordinary Level exams.

Outstanding Teen of the Year

Tanaka Lionel Roki is without any doubt the most outstanding teen for 2014. He went to Germany in November for a Zimbabwean project called Twenty.fifteen! As a dancer and an actor. He also scooped the Best Solo Dancer Award in the Hip hop Awards.

Cool Contributor of the Year

Wow, we congratulate Tinashe Nyamushanya who automatically qualifies to be the cool writer of the year. He contributed a lot to the paper with his stories. Here are some of the stories that he wrote this year. By the way you too can break a record by participating too. Bring those articles, remember CLS is for you by you.

◆ Enjoy life at every moment

◆ Education does not mean good judgement

◆ Spare the rod, spoil the child

◆ Today’s youths are misunderstood

◆ City life may not be as attractive

◆ Should children be voters?

◆ Death sentence violates human rights

Cool Story of the year

In March this year, we published a story about Kwekwe diamond miners as young as 15 who risk their lives going under the mines looking for diamonds.

These children mainly practice mining to fend for the families since most of them are breadwinners. This story touched us all so it qualifies to be the story of the year

Most Influential Teen

On this one, we honour the teen who managed to positively influence his or her colleagues through their work. The Harare Junior mayor, Ebenezer Nobela managed to touch the lives of many teens through partnering with his junior council in donating and inspiring teens through various activities.

Cool Teen of the Year

Stephaine Josephs – a model cum make-up artist qualifies to be our Cool Teen of the year. She has motivated other girls to prove that, given a chance girls can rule the world.

Most Inspirational story of the year

We have come across many inspirational stories this year that have touched our lives. The most outstanding one was the story of nine-year old Junior Mwase who authored a book called ‘The book of life’ that shares some simple life lessons on character and conduct for kids. For a nine-year old, well it’s a great achievement which some of us failed to achieve.
