Amir Khan wants more Amir Khan

LONDON. – British boxer Amir Khan is targeting a summer clash with American motor-mouth Adrien Broner. Khan returned to the ring after two years out with a 39-second destruction of the hapless Canadian Phil Lo Greco on Saturday night.

British rival Kell Brook stormed into the ring at the Echo Arena afterwards with the pair exchanging words to stoke up the interest in a long-awaited clash.

But it is more likely both will have one more fight each before they seriously discuss a clash, with Brook set to box in July and Khan a month later.

The former light-welterweight world champion wants to step up against brash Broner, who fought to a majority draw with Jessie Vargas on Saturday in New York. “I’d like Broner,” said Khan after his 32nd career win.
“Broner is a big name, that would be a great fight, to bring him to the UK”

“The UK market is massive now and fighters from America want to come here. I think he would take the fight.”
Khan’s team are keen for their man to get another fight under his belt before he takes on Brook or any of the welterweight world champions.

While the finish was impressive, after two years out Khan didn’t get a chance to really shake off the ring rust as Lo Greco folded with the first big punches.

Former IBF welterweight champion Brook has moved up to light-middleweight and is likely to want it at a catchweight between the two divisions.

But Khan said: “We’re close to making the fight happen because we have the same promoter now. It would be good for us both because it would seal the legacy whoever wins that fight.’’ – Boxing Ring.
