Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Cde Victor Matemadanda has challenged provincial party executives to afford “errant” members time to reform before expelling them from the party.

Addressing the Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) at Victoria Junior School recently, he said there was need to strengthen the party, instead of weakening it through dismissals.

Cde Matemadanda’s remarks came in the wake of a recommendation by the provincial executive to expel its secretary for Environment and Tourism Cde Killer Zivhu.

The party is accusing the Chivi South legislator of violating several of its regulations through social media posts that praised MDC-Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa and calling for dialogue between him and President Mnangagwa, among other allegations.“We urge you to be united, as a party. We don’t want unnecessary divisions, in most cases factionalism becomes a cocktail for disaster. As a party, we don’t tolerate factionalism,” said Cde Matemadanda.

He said members who failed to toe the party line had no room in Zanu-PF, though the leadership should give them chance to reform.

“When one of the firewood produces smoke, you do not have to remove it. You must leave it in the fireplace so that it can be assisted by others to catch fire than removing it.

“If you keep on removing firewood, you may end up without any in your fireplace.

“So you should help each other to reform than dismissing those who are found violating the party rules and regulations,” said Cde Matemadanda.

He also congratulated the province for winning Zaka East by-election which was held a fortnight ago, saying it showed the leadership of Cde Ezra Chadzamira was spot on. Some of those who attended the PCC were Zanu-PF Chief Whip Cde Pupurai Togarepi, National Secretary for Security Cde Lovemore Matuke, National Secretary for Production Cde Josaya Hungwe, Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Paul Mangwana, Secretary for Industry and Commerce Dr Mike Bimha, Senate President Mabel Chinomona and Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde Chadzamira, among others.
