AMBITIOUS ZIFA Northern region Division One side Alburaak have rebranded and will be known as Black Tigers starting from this season. The club have also appointed a new executive and a new head coach, Joseph Takaringofa, in a raft of changes announced by the owner and vice-chairman Mussa Phiri yesterday.

Takaringofa replaces Naison Muchekela who has been with the club since their days in the Harare Province Division 2A.

Muchekela has been re-assigned to the position of assistant coach.

The club have also made new appointments to the executive with veteran administrator, Saidi Sangula, coming in to replace Barry Manandi as the chairman.

Phiri, who is the sole sponsor of the team through his company Alburaak Freightliner, said they have not shifted from their objective of playing Premiership football in the near future.

“We are happy to announce that we have rebranded from Alburaak to Black Tigers for the 2019 season. The executive was also reshuffled,’’ said Phiri.

“Our new executive has Saidi Sangula as the chairman, Evans Nyakatsapa is the secretary-general and Sheik Naino Naino is the team manager.

“The technical team also had some changes with former Mutare City Rovers coach Takaringofa taking over from Naison Muchekela who is now the assistant coach together with Vincent Zviripayi and Lawrence Mvudla.

“We still look forward to unleash some young talented players and win the championship in the long run but, for this year, our target is a top four finish after we learnt a lot last year in our maiden season.’’

He said there could be some new players.

“We are expecting some new players as the coach has the mandate to select who to work with and yesterday we witnessed a good turnout for our trials,’’ said Phiri.
