The Affirmative Action Group (AAG) has welcomed the appointment of Vice Presidents Constantino Guvheya Nyikadzino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, saying the two had a proven track record of service to the country.

In a statement, AAG president Mr Chamu Chiwanza said the two Vice Presidents were able assistants to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“On behalf of the AAG movement in Zimbabwe, we would like to congratulate General Chiwenga (Rtd) and Honourable Kembo Mohadi on their appointments as Vice Presidents,” he said.

“The Vice Presidents have illustriously served Zimbabwe in distinguished and highly commendable ways before and after independence.

“They participated in the development of a free and democratic Zimbabwe and truly understand the needs and aspirations of people of Zimbabwe.”

Mr Chiwanza said AAG would continue supporting Government in fulfilling efforts to empower the people.

“Having served in their previous assignments with distinction and offering unfailing service to Zimbabwe, the AAG would like to offer them unconditional support in their new roles and pledge to support all Government efforts and policies that remove social and economic disparities that continue to be the source of marginalisation, unemployment and poverty,” he said.

Mr Chiwanza commended President Mnangagwa for prioritising economic development in his policy positions.

Vice Presidents Chiwenga and Mohadi were sworn into office on Thursday last week, following their appointments as Vice Presidents and Second Secretaries of Zanu-PF.

“The AAG would equally want to thank His Excellency President Mnangagwa for bold, clear and inspiring leadership that has raised hopes of the nation and given all Zimbabweans both in and outside the country the confidence that Zimbabwe will again rise to be the economic giant that it once was,” said Mr Chiwanza.
