Genesis 32; 24-28 reads, ‘And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, what is thy name? And he said Jacob. And he said thy name shall no more be Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince has thou power with God and with men, and has prevailed.

Jacob was a man after blessings so much so that he fought for it before they were even born, Esau came out first but Jacob came out holding his heel.

He was saying ‘come on Esau, if you have a chance of getting the blessing then I will snatch it away’. Whoever was holding your things, snatch it away from him, Esau was telling himself that he has got it but Jacob thought to himself that there was a chance to get it?

Our God is the Lord of second chances, if you missed it 2 years ago you can still re-claim it now, it’s not over until it’s over. Esau was a hunter but Jacob knew the secret of the kitchen, so he cooked mouth-watery meal to tempt his brother whereupon they made a deal and the former made his younger brother the first born by just speaking with his mouth. Be careful what you say, why sow a seed that will destroy you later? Tell yourself there is light at the end of the tunnel, keep on moving, nothing can say no to determination.

If Esau had eyes he could have sensed something being fishy but Jacob gained, today you must begin a life of gaining in the name of Jesus.

This first born just thought he had spoken not knowing that the bible says you shall have whatsoever you say. Many are suffering because they repeat exactly what the enemy says; if aunty says your children are going nowhere, reply and say nobody moves and still remain at the same place even if it is at snail’s pace.

The time came for what the older son said to be fulfilled hence Isaac asked him to cook a meal, listen, when you invest in the house of the Lord expect something in return. Jacob didn’t trick his father by saying I’m Esau, the rightful heir, he was for he had bought the birthright with a bowl of soup. If you have sold what is yours, you are going to get it back, the Lord will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten.

Esau shivered when he realized the blessing had been taken, but I love this part, Isaac said it shall come to pass when you have become restless that you shall break your brother’s yoke off your shoulders.

It doesn’t matter what they did, you have the power to break the curse. Jacob had the blessing of the first born, but that didn’t stop him from running, but a Divine blessing stands against the enemy. Rachel, why carry a god that can fit in your handbag, come and I will show you my God, who was, and is and is to come, who cannot be stolen or touched.

After wrestling with an angel that’s when he got blessing that changed his name to Israel, turned enemies to friends. This blessing I’m talking surpasses that from the parents, may it be released upon your children, community and relatives in the name of Jesus.
