Tongogara Rural District Council is set to unveil 400 residential stands at Chachacha Growth Point in a move aimed at complementing Government efforts to transform growth points into economic hotspots.

Tongogara RDC chief executive Mr Brian Rufasha said they have already allocated 200 of the 400 residential stands while servicing of roads and water is underway.

“We are developing Chachacha Growth Point and in terms of housing expansion, 400 stands will be allocated. We have already allocated 200 of the 400 stands and we will soon be allocating the other half.”

Mr Rufasha said there has been a wrangle between the local authority and nearby village heads who were also allocating rural stands on the same land.

Meanwhile, Shurugwi District Administrator, Mr Langton Mupeta said the recent corruption allegations against Mr Rufasha were being fuelled by a group of illegal settlers refusing to pay council its dues.

“The allegations are baseless and unfounded.

“Those are illegal settlers who are supposed to move to pave way for the expansion of the growth point.

“It is either they move or they pay for the residential stands,” he said.
