Zanu-PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has said President Mnangagwa is assured of an emphatic victory in Manicaland when the nation goes to vote in the harmonised elections on Monday.

Speaking at the star rally addressed by President Mnangagwa in Mutare last week, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said Manicaland was a given for Zanu-PF.

“Zimbabwe is like the biblical Egypt,” she said. “It took the Israelites 40 years to reach the Promised Land of Canaan. Zimbabwe has been on the journey to the Promised Land for 38 years now and there are only two years left for us to reach our Canaan. President Mnangagwa will take us from Egypt to Canaan.

“Today I am proud of Manicaland for coming out in their numbers to show their support to President Mnangagwa. People have come out in their numbers and this is a sign that they do not want to continue hiding.

“They now want to openly support Zanu-PF and President Mnangagwa, who will deliver us to the Promised Land. This is a demonstration of how people will vote come July 30.”

Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said Manicaland had decided on the ruling party and no one could sway their vote in the last few days before the elections.

“All 26 seats in Manicaland are coming back to Zanu-PF,” she said. “All these people who have gathered here will vote for Zanu-PF. Manicaland is a given for you (President Mnangagwa). The multitudes that are gathered here are a demonstration that we have all agreed with the work that you are doing. We want that work to continue even after the election.”

Meanwhile, the Zanu-PF Mashonaland East Youth League provincial leadership has kick-started a series of meetings across the province that will see district chairpersons educating youths about the voting process during next Monday’s general elections, writes our Mashonaland East correspondent Itai Mazire.

Youth League provincial chairperson Cde Kelvin Mutsvairo said the voter education process was aimed at Zanu-PF securing 100 percent of the vote from youths in the province.

“We noted as the youth leadership that in our structures some youths will be voting for the first time,” he said. “So, it is our mandate to take them on a dry test on how to vote and what is expected when one is in the voting booths.

“This process will also teach our youths to avoid spoiling of the ballot papers on July 30. Our goal is to secure every Zanu-PF vote. The Youth League is the vanguard of the party and we are there to ensure a Zanu-PF victory.

“Our teams in all constituencies will be conducting the voter education until the last day of the campaigns.”

The Youth League has played a pivotal role in mobilising youths to register.

It also he a series of rallies across the province to buttress the #EDHasMyVote campaign in a bid to boost Zanu-PF membership.

The Youth League was also instrumental in uniting party supporters after the May 29 primary elections.

Cde Mutsvairo said the initiative will see Zanu-PF retaining all seats in the province, with President Mnangagwa winning the Presidential election.

“We are now in the final stretch to the election and as Youth League we are now safeguarding our vote,” he said. “Our people have worked very hard and come July 30, we will show the world that Zanu-PF is a people’s party.”
