12 Air Force of Zimbabwe officers promoted

President Mugabe has promoted two Air Force of Zimbabwe Wing Commanders to the rank of Group Captains and elevated five Squadron Leaders to the rank of Wing Com­manders.
Cde Mugabe, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces also promoted five officers to the rank of Squadron Leader. The promotions were made after the senior officers distinguished themselves in executing their duties. AFZ commander Air Marshal Perrance Shiri conferred the 12 officers with their new ranks in Harare yesterday. Officers conferred with the Group Captains rank were Washington Makurumidze and Donald Mutangadura while Dakarai Muraicho, Moses Mabeka, Wellington Mawire, Wilbrought Chirau and Patson Nyamudyambanje were elevated to the rank of Wing Commanders.

Emma Mugozhi, Dominic Ncube, Christopher Chisi, Clain Munetsi and Walter Mhaka Munyaradzi were promoted to the rank of Squadron Leader.

Air Marshal Shiri said the promotions were based on merit, discipline and dedication to duty.
“These promotions are always based on merit and those who are disciplined, hardworking and dedicated to duty will always excel to higher ranks here at Zimbabwe Air Forces,” he said.

“We always try to identify best officers suitable for the jobs and make recommendations through the protocol to the Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.”

Air Marshal Shiri urged the newly promoted officers to continue working hard and be firm and responsible when carrying out their duties so that they maintain respect from their subordinates. The promotion of Group Captain Mutangadura was with effect from June 11 this year while Group Captain Makurumidze’s, Wing Commanders and Squadron Leaders’ promotion was with effect from October 23 this year.
