Chinese-based technology company ZTE has various technological solutions it plans to introduce to help solve some of the country’s problems, an official has said. ZTE chief executive Mr Duan Yong told invited guests at an ICT workshop held recently that some of their solutions include the smart city concept, i-transportation system and smart tourism solutions which will help the Government to digitalise.

Other concepts he said included the U-government system, which is a comprehensive and integrated application platform that provides rich cloud services that make government processes more efficient, more integrated and more transparent.

“These solutions can be implemented in fields of health, education, safety, public administration and many more. The U-government  Operations  and Administration cloud solution  offers  professional  email system, internal portal system, HR finance , asset management  system and information security,” he said.

The Government Data Centre from ZTE offers cloud desktop solutions which realises great savings on expenditure for IT devices, ICT maintenance  and management. This in turn lowers the threshold for personal education thereby minimizing the professional IT human resources and facilitate easy IT operations such as system upgrades while guaranteeing information security.

Meanwhile, in a speech read on her behalf by Senior minister Simon Khaya Moyo, Vice President Joice Mujuru said Zimbabwe technological players needed to forge ways to solve the country’s problems using technological solutions. She said this was critical if the technology sector was to impact on the economy as stipulated in the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation.
