What is the history behind ZOL Restaurant Week (ZRW)? Formerly Harare Restaurant Week, it began in May 2012 and was considered the first “restaurant week” in Zimbabwe.

Prices were set at $15, $20 and $25 for a two or three-course lunch and/or dinner.

It has proved to be a popular concept with the dining public in Harare. ZOL came in as a sponsor in September 2012 and recognised the potential to make it bigger and by so doing, serve the customers in the ZOLspot market better.

The 7th ZOL Restaurant Week (ZRW) runs from May 27-June 6.

In May 2013, Harare Restaurant Week was re-branded to ZOL Restaurant Week for a contracted period and this has given the team behind the ZOL Restaurant Week the stability and financial support required to keep this event relevant and exciting.

What exactly is this week about? For a start, this is a “10-day” week (consistent with ZOL always bringing you the best value in the best way), where we have partnered with some of the leading fine dining and casual establishments in Harare who will serve up their culinary delights to diners around the city.

ZOL is proud to work with the Eatout team which consists of Joseph Bunga, Veronica Monteiro and Jonathan Makwasha.

Since its inception, in May 2012, Restaurant Week has seen an increase in the appreciation of the Harare foodie and this has become a food and wine diary event, which our growing cosmopolitan community looks forward to.

It is an ideal time to sync your palate and your wallet. Go out as a couple or in a group and enjoy the discounted menus restaurants have put together for you.

There is a variety of cuisine to suit all tastes. Our menus allow you to take advantage of local, upmarket cuisine at affordable prices.

Enjoy meals from as little as $5 up to $25 per head. This year we have three restaurants offering meals starting at $5: Millers Cafe, O’Hagans and a newcomer The Coffee Garden.

Not only will you be treating yourself and your friends, but your participation will be part of stimulating the economy while recognizing and supporting local independent restaurant owners and their teams.

ZOL Restaurant Week offers restaurants the opportunity to showcase to the community and visitors; what they do best at a price that will encourage dining out.

Restaurants will be putting their best foot forward to diners that they want to come back again and again.

This ZRW, we have 21 restaurants taking part with a widespread demographic of the city.
