LEADING Internet Service Provider, ZOL Zimbabwe, has launched its lowest priced fibre package, Fibroniks Lite and reconfigured all of capped and uncapped packages, making both upload and download speeds the same.

Unveiling the new package yesterday, Zol chief executive officer Danny Marandure said the package coincides with the launch of a new dynamic consumer-centric website that features a vibrant design and a clean layout to guide visitors through the internet service provider’s services.

Mr Marandure said the strategy behind the latest developments is to make internet affordable by all consumers.

“The cost of internet connectivity is a hindrance for the wider availability of internet connections in Africa, a trend that ZOL aims to combat,” said Mr Marandure.

“According to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe, fibre — the fastest of connections — accounts for just 0,21 percent of subscriptions in Zimbabwe with mobile internet making up 95,6 percent of total internet subscriptions.”

At $29 per month entry-level package, the Fibroniks Lite comes with high speeds within its price range, 15GB data, a ZOLphone cordless handset, free ZOL-ZOL calls and $2 free ZOL minutes per month on national calls only.

The package is available to users in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls within areas that fibre is already laid.

Zol’s idea aims to provide business with convenience since the internet has become more usable in business.

“The internet is becoming much more than just a tool, it is a fundamental part of society. By combining its unrivalled speeds and excellent customer service with a game-changing price tag of $29, ZOL will ensure that high-speed and quality internet becomes a basic right for everyone.

“Benefits include a cordless ZOLphone handset offering customers the best low cost phone service nationwide, with calls starting from as little as 0,10c per minute,” said Mr Marandure.

The ISP has also increased the data allowance on all of their capped Home Fibroniks packages with Fibroniks — Basic Essentials which costs $39 per month now at 25GB per month up from 15GB.

Fibroniks — Family Essentials priced at $89 per month now comes with 50GB per month from 30GB per month.

“Not only can customers enjoy super-fast speeds on fibre, but now they can browse and stream for longer,” he said.

Zol is targeting to connect at least 100 000 homes to its fibre introduce its fibre optic network by 2017.
