Popular inter-denominational choir ZimPraise has set the dates for the kids’ auditions scheduled for Harare from December 8 to 13. The auditions, which are set to empower children to serve God, will see children between the ages of six and 17 years getting a chance to shine. Speaking to Herald Entertainment, ZimPraise Kids director Brent Kuda-kwashe said the week-long auditions will ensure that they have enough time to assess and choose the best.

“Last time when we had the auditions, we had a large turnout of children but there was not enough time to assess every child. A whole week for auditioning will give us time to listen to everyone and give each child more time to perform,” he said.

Kudakwashe said the second audition in a space of one year was necessitated by several dropouts.

“After the final auditions we had 45 members but now this slot we want 100 children. Some of the children failed to pay the US$20 membership fee. Remember we are a non-profit-making organisation, so the fee would cater for their training courses and other necessities,” he said.

He said the children would not only write their own songs but will also be nurtured and developed through the ZimPraise Academy.

“We will help them in writing their own songs but the bottom line is for them to develop their artistic skills in the area of dance, music and theatre. We will also help them become independent thinkers and character development,” he said.

The first group made headlines earlier this year after performing at the launch of the ZimPraise seventh DVD album.

Meanwhile, the adult group are continuing to scale greater heights with their hit songs.
