Zimpapers yesterday held a farewell party for outgoing Chief Executive Mr Justin Mutasa and Group Finance Director Mr Adolf Majome to honour them for their immense contribution to the company.
The two left the company on early retirement.

Speaking at the party held in Harare, Zimpapers board chairperson Dr Charles Utete said it was not easy to bid farewell to the two because of their contribution and attachment to the company.

“Clearly that longevity at Zimpapers speaks volumes about the contribution they made and the recognition that goes with it,” he said. “Mr Mutasa joined Zimpapers in 2002 as CEO when the group’s fortunes appeared to be weighing down and he quickly established himself as a firm and fair leader. He quickly learned the ropes and made such a profound impact on Zimpapers.”

Dr Utete expressed gratitude that Zimpapers under Mr Mutasa’s guidance and leadership had more fortunes than misfortunes and dominated the media industry.

“Let me acknowledge the role Zimpapers management team led by Mr Mutasa and assisted by Mr Majome who made sterling contributions some of which are recognised not necessarily in terms of finances, but the kind of sleepless nights they sometimes had to go through because of the volatile situation the company faced with its workers and with its stakeholders,” said Dr Utete.

Dr Utete applauded the recapitalisation carried out by Mr Mutasa during his days at Zimpapers.

Zimpapers Harare branch general manager Mr Samuel Bepe wished Mr Mutasa and Mr Majome success in their new endeavours.

Mr Mutasa said he was leaving Zimpapers a happy man.

“As a listed company, we never failed to publish our accounts,” he said. “I leave today with a great sense of achievement and pride in that Zimpapers is on the brink of becoming an integrated media house.

“I salute editors for defending the national interest of the country. Zimpapers is under the spotlight and whatever we do should reflect the defence of our coun- try.”

Mr Majome said he would act like an ambassador for Zimpapers.

“I have got Zimpapers DNA in my blood, so Zimpapers will always be part of me,” he said. “Let me assure you that Zimpapers is a company of wonderful opportunities to clients, creditors and employees.”

The farewell function was attended by senior Zimpapers staffers, bankers and stakeholders in the business industry.
