A local music group, Zimboita, is expected back in the country today from their second ‘African dream tour’.
The tour which started on August 26 saw the group performing in Zambia’s Barefeet festival and a local Jazz club in Lusaka before they moved to South Africa, Cape town where they performed in market places.

They also performed in Botswana then proceeded to Tanzania were they performed at Dar es Salaam International School and at the Zanzibar Music Festival.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, the founder of the group Blessing Chimanga said he was overwhelmed with the response the group got when they performed in each of the four African countries.

“The response was just overwhelming in all the countries that we toured this year, the music was well received and many people loved the sound, the collaboration and the energy.

“It was our first time to perform in Tanzania and besides the crazy hot temperatures this was  a great performance. We are glad that we had a great time and also delivered a great performance,” he said.

The group is set to have a welcome show in Masvingo and Bulawayo on September 26 and 27 respectively.

There will also be a farewell on October 4 at the Zimbabwe Germany Society for Chimanga who is set to represent Zimbabwe in The United States at the One Beat musical exchange in October and November.

The group is a celebration of exchange of culture, friendship and collaboration. Zimboita short for (Zimbabwe and Italy)  plays a style of music called Afro blues which was created after mixing the traditional sounds from the two countries.

The music is written in both the two countries’ languages English, Shona and Italian.
