Former Miss Southern Africa Zimbabwe 2012 Letwin Tatenda Tiwaringe is set to take part in this year’s edition of the World’s Next Top Model pageant to be held in Beirut, Lebanon, on June 6. The 22-year-old vivacious model will depart on May 13 to acclimatise herself with the host country and also make the most out of her camp before the competition.

Letwin, who is not new on the ramp, was Miss Harare 2013 and made the top eight last year at Miss Zimbabwe. She said she was more than ready for the World’s Next Top Model pageant.

The model paid tribute to Marry Chiwenga of the Miss Zimbabwe pageant whom she described as a mentor who played an instrumental role in honouring her modelling skills.

“I am thankful for the grooming lessons and tips that Mrs Marry Chiwenga gave us during the Miss Zimbabwe pageant last year as I am going to use them in Lebanon.

“When I was in the Miss Zimbabwe camp last year, Mrs Chiwenga gave us diet tips and also taught us how to maintain a slim and trim figure. This was on top of all basic things like how best to sit, talk and walk and these are the things that I shall use in Lebanon.

“I am attending the gym and running everyday. I also have make-up lessons with Vault Cosmetics,” she explained.

Letwin said she is upbeat that she will make a huge splash at the World’s Next Top Model pageant.

“Last year I competed in the Miss Zimbabwe pageant and I made it into the top eight. I received an award from the Philanthropic Institute of Zimbabwe for the charity work I did with Mbuya Nehanda Children’s Home. I hope to go back to the Miss Zimbabwe pageant in 2016 and try again,” she said.

Apart from her stunning looks, the model said she was also prepared to leave a lasting impression on the fashion side when she takes to the ramp in some of the attire designed by top Lebanon designers.

“Most of the garments are going to be provided in Lebanon by top designers like Nicolas Jebran and Gina K from that country although my evening dress was designed by a Zimbabwean, Tunga.

“It is also going to be an opportunity for me to network and make business contacts since some top international model scouts and agencies are also going to be present to scout for potential models on the final night,” she said.

Born on November 22 in 1992, the model – who is the last born in a family of nine – started modelling when she was still in high school.

“I started taking it serious when I finished my A-Level at Marondera High School, although I had started modelling at St David’s Girls High School in Bonda where I did my O-Level.

“In 2011, I won my first title, Face of Chitungwiza before clinching the Miss Southern Africa-Zimbabwe the following year. Some of my awards include Miss Personality, Face of Zimbabwe Finalist that same year as well as being Miss Harare for 2013,” said the 183cm tall African beauty.

The World’s Next Top Model competition – which will be held on June 6 – will be broadcast live on MTV (Lebanon).

She is set to follow in the footsteps of Vanessa Sibanda who made history at the Top Model Of The World Pageant 2011 after she was crowned second runner up.

Last year saw Ukrainian model Olga Klymenko winning the coveted crown also held in Lebanon on August 22.
