THE Old Mutual Young Sables open their campaign at the Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week rugby tournament when they take on Eastern Province Country Districts at the High Technical School Middelburg in Middelburg this morning.
Led by Falcon College prop Stephen Bhasera, the Zimbabwean juniors would be looking for a fine start at the tournament which will determine who they will get to play in their second fixture on Wednesday.

Coach Godwin “Jaws” Murambiwa yesterday announced his starting line-up for the clash against EP Country Districts who the Zimbabwean coach is not taking likely.

Justin Mendelsohn will scrum down at loosehead prop with Lebogang Ngwenya at hooker and Bhasera at tighthead prop. The second row is made up of Tinashe Gonese and Eli Snyman while the loose trio is composed of Jeff Makoni, Cole Bond and Daniel Nyamugama. At scrumhalf is Kyle College flyhalf Campbell Nyakudya who forms a halfback pairing with Angus Bruce. Falcon College speedster Brian Mhuriyengwe is on the wing together with Tawanda Ngosi of Midlands Christian College.

Matthew Ushewokunze starts at inside centre with Dean McRoberts at outside centre while Tarisai Mapfumo completes the backline at fullback.

Zimbabwe’s biggest test is on the last day of the Craven Week on Saturday when they square off against Namibia, a team which thumped them 33-10 at last year’s tournament.

The Young Sables arrived in South Africa yesterday morning from Harare accompanied by a representative of the team’s sponsors Old Mutual Zimbabwe, Tendai Mutseyekwa who is the group senior communications consultant for the diversified financial services group, mother of skipper Bhasera and journalists from various media houses.
