Nominees for the much-awaited fifth edition of the Zim Hip-Hop Awards have been announced.
The list was released last week at a press conference held at the Volt with the organisers confirming that they are ready for the show.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 10 at Club 1+1 at LongCheng Plaza and a lot is expected at the red carpet event.
In an interview with one of the organisers, Sean Campbell said preparations are at advanced stage.
“We have re-branded these awards and like we always say, this year is a little different and there is some professional music gurus that we are also working with.
“The list is out and I am happy with how the music fanatics, musicians, critics and corporates have been responding to it. We should trust our adjudication team who have been working tirelessly to put everything in order. So far preparations are at advanced stage,” he said.
Campbell said they have also a line up of entertainment and the show will be on schedule.
“The list of performers include Stunner, Tehn Diamond, Dollar Sign Music, ProBeats, GT Beats, Briss Mbada and Guluva Seven among others. This is a red carpet event which will see the bestdressed male and female being awarded a prize,” he said.
Bulawayo based hip-hop rap artist Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo affectionately known as Cal_Vin is leading the nomination list with seven nominations which includes Best Video, Best Album, Best Male, Best Collabo, People’s Choice, Best Producer and Song of the Year.
Cal_Vin is heavily influenced by the likes of Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Michael Jackson and South African award rapper Cassper Nyovest.
