Dancehall selectors who missed out on Sting 2014 after the fracas broke out at the City Sports Centre this year are expected to clash again when they feature at Zim Dancehall Shutdown gig slated for tomorrow at the same venue. It will be Judgment Yard versus selector Garry and Templeman or is it the battle of the radio stations. Judgment Yard made up of Etherton Beenie and DJ Flevah, who hold it down on ZiFM, will go head-to head with Garry B and Templeman who are behind Star FM’s popular “Dancehall Remedy”, a show that propels youths to stardom.

According to Partson Chimbodza, more popularly known as Chipaz in music circles who is organising the show, the two camps will be at the gig to spice up the entertainment line-up.

“These two camps are no rivals but rather they complement each other in uplifting dancehall music. So since they didn’t perform at Sting 2014 after the pandemonium broke out. They didn’t have a chance to play and this time they will be there in full force,” he said.

The combination of Etherton Beenie, aka Voice of the Voiceless, and DJ Flevah is a formidable one. The two, who vowed to take Zim dancehall to the world, have indeed taken the genre beyond our borders. So far, they have staged sold out shows in Botswana and South Africa. So popular is Judgment Yard across the Limpopo such that whenever they tour they not only play before Zimbabwean crowd but also South Africans.

Also not to be outdone are Garry B and Templeman, aka Ghetto president. If there is anybody who is respected by ghetto youths it must be Templeman.

Whenever he stakes to the stage, Templeman exudes huge stage presence and more often than not the youths would stop whatever they would doing and listen.

It would non-stop music with heavy hitters at the gig in the likes of Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Killer T, Kinnah, Terminator, Badman, jiggaz, Ricky Fire, Cello culture, Bounty Lisa, Lady Squanda and Dhadza D.
