Local beat-boxer and dancer Denzel Takudzwa Mashonganika, whose stage name is ProBeatz, left the country for the US last Thursday to compete at the 20th edition of the World Championships of Performing Arts taking place in Hollywood, California. The 21-year-old artiste from Mufakose is one of four performers representing Zimbabwe at the 9-day competition which began on July 8.Other Zimbabwean contestants include former Star FM presenter Zandile “Dj Zaza” Ndlovu, guitarist Silent Nqo and model and radio/TV presenter Timothy Hogo.

WCOPA is a competition which many prefer to dub as the Talent Olympics and is held annually with 64 countries from all over the world contesting.

The competition covers group and solo performances for dance, singing, models, instrumentalists and actors.

ProBeatz has previously won the Dreamstar Talent Competition in 2015 which gave him an opportunity to tour Europe and Asia.

During his tour, he performed alongside Hope Masike amongst others.

ProBeatz’s manager, Plot Mhako was very pleased that the artiste is representing the country.

“I am very confident that he is going to raise the Zimbabwean flag high,” he said.

Aspiring contestants in the competition can apply through WCOPA website.
