The Zimbabwe International Film Festival Trust has made a final call for submissions for the 18th Zimbabwe International Film Festival which will be held from October 1 to 8 under the theme “Reel, Sound and Music”. The eight-day event is held annually and will take place at various venues in the capital and surrounding places.Local and international film makers can submit their applications online via the ZIFFT official website.

This year’s festival will mainly have films that show the importance of sound and music in film production, but it will also have broad themes in showcased productions.

“The theme is really about taking stock and respecting the three elements that make a wholesome film that is image, sound and music,” said ZIFF spokesperson Elton Mjanana.

“So, this year we pay attention to films that deliberately bring the unison of these elements.”

The deadline for this year’s submissions is August 31.

The ZIFFT, which was established in 1997, has distinguished itself as a major supporter for of film in Zimbabwe and around Africa.

Last year’s festival had a massive turn out with 57 films from over 18 countries around the world and over 5 000 people in attendance.
