ZIFA are set to unveil new playing kits for all national teams, ending their marriage with international sportswear manufacturer Umbro. In a brief statement on the association’s website yesterday, ZIFA communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said they had also struck an agreement with a new international partner who they would name at Country Club in Highlands.

Sources, however, said the new sponsors are Joma, who have been dressing Premiership giants CAPS United. “Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation that it will tomorrow (today) launch new national team kits at the Country Club in Highlands.

“We are delighted to announce that we have secured a reputable technical partner that will kit all national teams. “The internationally recognised partner will provide merchandise and replica jerseys and this important deal is set to benefit the association.

“This is a landmark deal and we urge all Zimbabweans to purchase the merchandise at selling points that will be announced tomorrow. “We also would like to encourage prospective sponsors to partner the association as sponsorship is sine qua non to the growth and development of the beautiful game,” said Gwesela. Gwesela said global trends had shown that football and technical sponsors are inseparable partners.
