Zhakata mentors upcoming artistes

Musician Leornard “Karikoga” Zhakata is nurturing upcoming gospel artiste Widdy Mkwanda who is set to launch his album this month.
Zhakata has helped Mkwanda financially and he assisted him in the recording of some of his songs on his album “Season of Grace”.In an interview, Mkwanda expressed gratitude to the musician saying it is because of his support that he has managed to record his six-track album.

“Zhakata is heaven sent. I approached him with the three songs I had recorded. He told me that my music was fine and he helped in the recording of other three songs so that I could come up with an album,” he said.

The album carries songs like “Divine Solutions”, “Minana Chete” and “2 Chronicles”.

Zhakata said he is happy working with upcoming artistes, adding that he is ready to share his experience with an other upcoming artistes.

“I am assisting a number of artistes among them Mkwanda whom we worship with at UFIC and I am also working with two prison groups, I can’t reveal the names now. I am assisting them in their music and we will be recording their albums soon,”

“I am ready to share the experience I have got in the industry with anyone,” he said.

Commenting on his music, Zhakata said he had not completely diverted from his Zora type of music because of his Christian background.

“We didn’t shift much but we are just working on creating a gospel audience fan base but our music is still the same,” he said.
