Zanu-PF Midlands Province has been given up to January 11 to resolve its internal squabbles and rein in members who reportedly harassed newly-appointed ministers, Makhosini Hlongwane, Anastasia Ndlovu and Tapiwa Matangaidze.

The trio has since written to the secretary for the Commissariat and Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Cde Saviour Kasukuwere and copied the letter to the Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko, who chairs the national disciplinary committee.

The three are seeking protection from comrades whom they allege vilify and undermine them in public.

The three ministers alleged fellow provincial members were not happy with their recent appointments by President Mugabe.

Minister Kasukuwere instructed the province to set up a disciplinary committee to preside over the matter “not later than January 11, 2016.”

In a report read by deputy provincial chairman, Cde McKenzie Ncube, the trio accused provincial secretary for Security Cde Owen Ncube and the provincial youth league secretary for Administration, Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena of denigrating party leaders Cde Kasukuwere, Cde Patrick Zhuwao and Professor Jonathan Moyo.

It was alleged in the report that Cde Ncube chanted slogans during a meeting at the provincial party office denigrating the trio as well as the three Politburo members.

Cde Wadyajena is said to have accused Cde Matangaidze and his colleagues of being part of the “G40” (Generation 40 cabal)accused of attempting to block Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa from succeeding President Mugabe when the time comes.

The trio alleged the provincial members claimed their appointment was G40-motivated.

“We the undersigned are writing to you in your capacity as national secretary for the Commissariat, charged with the responsibility of maintaining order and discipline within the party.

“Since the appointments, we have been under incessant attacks from Owen ‘Mudha’ Ncube (secretary for Security in the Midlands province), Justice Mayor Wadyajena (secretary for Administration in the Midlands youth league), Edmore Samambwa (the youth provincial chairman) and other members of the Youth League who allege our appointments were G40-motivated,” the members wrote.

“Cde Ncube once chanted slogans during a meeting at the party office where he said pasi naMatangaidze, pasi naMakhosini Hlongwani, pasi naAnastasia Ndlovu, pasi naKasukuwere, pasi naZhuwao, pasi naJonathan Moyo,” reads part of the letter.

The trio further alleged that they had been threatened with violence by Cde Ncube and his “hired” thugs.

“It must be pointed out that the idea of clubbing all ministers in the Midlands province into submission is designed to remove their loyalty from President Robert Mugabe to submit them to an alternative narrative,” reads the letter.

The province has responded by setting up a disciplinary committee that will preside over the matter as well as investigating the individuals implicated.

“We have set up a five-member disciplinary committee that would be led by deputy chairman, Cde McKenzie Ncube and Cde John Holder.

“We have since advised the national commissar of this development,” said Provincial chairman Cde Kizito Chivamba during a meeting.
