More Zanu-PF districts are expected to be constituted during the ongoing party restructuring being carried out in line with a directive issued by the national political commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere early last month.

Provincial executives across the country said due to creation of more suburbs and homesteads, additional districts were expected to be formed.

Zanu-PF Harare provincial secretary for the commissariat Cde Shadreck Mashayamombe said the ongoing expansion of the city was expected to be reflected through the additional party districts.

He said restructuring of cells had been completed in many areas except for northern suburbs where the process was slow.

“There is construction of houses in the capital as part of urban expansion,” said Cde Mashayamombe. “We expected that to result in additional number of districts. We have places like Epworth where we have more homesteads, there is also Harare South among others.

“Restructuring in most areas has been completed. In areas like low density suburbs such as Borrowdale, Avondale, Belvedere, Greendale, the process has been slow. We want to give them time to restructure their cells.”

Mashonaland central provincial chairperson Cde Dickson Mafios said they would hold a provincial coordinating committee meeting today to consider the list of new cell executives that they had received.

“There are few areas where we have not yet received (the lists),” Cde Mafios said. “Our PCC tomorrow (today) will decide when we will start holding elections of branch officers because the process of restructuring cells have almost been completed.”

Midlands provincial commissar Cde Makhosini Hlongwane said the bulk of the province had completed restructuring.

He said the delay in some areas was caused by rains that made them difficult to access.

“We are about 85 percent complete,” said Cde Hlongwane. “There were some areas that we could not easily access because of the rains and this caused some delay in completing the process in those areas. We have extended by five days to allow our teams to complete the process.”

Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said cell elections would be completed this week.

“We have covered a lot of ground,” he said. “We expect to complete the process in respect of cells this week. Thereafter, there will be verifying and if we are satisfied we will move on to branches.”

Mashonaland East acting chairperson Cde Aeneas Chigwedere said they would hold a provincial coordinating committee meeting this Saturday to review progress.

“We are almost there,” he said. “We are meeting as PCC this Saturday to review the process whether we need more time or we should move to branches.”
