The Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Youth League provincial executive has resolved that booted-out executive members, including chairman Cde Vengi Musengi, remain suspended until their matter is finalised by the National Disciplinary Committee.

At its meeting in Chinhoyi last Thursday, the executive also pledged its support for acting chairman Cde Tawanda Rupiya before reinstating Cde Ability Gandawa to the position of secretary for administration.

They also vowed to work as a unit amid allegations that the ousted trio had established a clique of five of the executive members that made unilateral decisions.

Cde Gandawa’s replacement by suspended Cde Silas Chimbiro was deemed unconstitutional and unprocedural.

Provincial youth chairman Cde Musengi, his deputy Joseph Nyariri and secretary for administration Cde Chimbiro, were suspended on a litany of allegations among them extortion and doctoring of resolutions of a Youth League conference held in November.

They, however, contested the suspension arguing that fake signatures were used to validate the petition of their ouster.

At least 33 of the 40-member executive attended the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Youth league national commissar Cde Innocent Hamandishe, who called for unity of purpose within the executive.

“Let sanity now prevail in the Mashonaland West Youth League and let people have unity of purpose and rally behind our leader President Mugabe,” he said.

Cde Hamandishe called on the youths to start preparations for the 21st February Movement celebrations in Masvingo next year.

He also said there was need for induction of the executive members to bring them up to speed with their briefs.

The induction has been tentatively set for January next year and is expected to remedy internecine clashes that have characterised the executive.

Acting chairman Cde Rupiya called for oneness in the executive to meet the expectations and aspirations of youths who voted them into office.

National secretary for security in the league Cde Tungamirai Mutonhodza called for responsible use of social media platforms such as WhatsApp.

“These should not be used to insult others especially our leaders,” he said.

He said they will soon move to close offensive groups or liase with group administrators for effective monitoring and censuring of errant members.

One group named ZIM-1 was fingered in carrying offensive messages which do not support the cause of youths.
