Zanu-PF has dismissed as null and void claims by a Central Committee member for Midlands Cde Douglas Tapfuma and the Kwekwe District executive that they were recalling Kwekwe Central MP, Cde Masango Matambanadzo following a public brawl with Gokwe-Kana legislator Cde Owen Ncube.
Cde Tapfuma told the media last week that Kwekwe District no longer wanted to associate with Cde Matambanadzo for attacking his senior equating it to “gross indiscipline and undermining senior party members”.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo said Cde Tapfuma jumped the gun.
“Cde Tapfuma has no authority to issue such statements for a national issue,” said Cde Gumbo.

“What he said is null and void because the province led by provincial chairperson Cde (Jaison) Machaya has not yet made a determination on the issue. They are still waiting for a report of what happened.

“Everything has to go through normal processes than a situation where someone just wakes up from their dream and issue a statement that they are recalling an MP when they do not have the capacity to do that.”

Cde Gumbo last week, said Cdes Matambanadzo and Ncube would be summoned for bringing the name of the revolutionary party into disrepute.
The duo exchanged blows on Sunday last week at Amaveni Shopping Centre over allegations of instructing youths to perform acts of arson.
