The announcement attracted applause from Central Committee members.
The Zanu-PF constitution would be amended if the Central Committee agrees with the Politburo decision.
At its formation, Zanu-PF did not have DCCs.

Provincial structures are now expected to play a pivotal role in the co-ordination of party activities.
Last month, an extraordinary session of the Zanu-PF Politburo resolved that the party’s national political commissar should investigate disturbances that occurred in some provinces during DCC elections.

There have been reports of imposition of candidates during the elections, especially in Masvingo and Manicaland provinces.
After the Central Committee meeting, Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo said the Central Committee upheld the Politburo decision.
“The major issue that was discussed was the issue of the DCCs and it was resolved that the institution be disbanded immediately.

“We also discussed the general state of the party and mechanisms to strengthen our structures,” he said.
In his opening address, the President reminded Central Committee members to be alert as Africa was under siege from its former colonial masters engaging in covet operations to remove revolutionary political parties from power and replace them with stooges.

He said the continent had lost its revolutionary vigour that characterised the creation of the Organisation of African Unity.
“The revolutionary vigour that was shown then has been lost on the way and today it is as if we never had Addis Ababa of 1963.
“We bow our heads in disgrace. As we notice year-in, year-out, the enemy is back in control of Africa. The enemy we defeated yesterday and wiped out of Africa is now in control through strategies much more clandestine,” he said.

President Mugabe said the imperialists have changed tactics.
“They control the minds of leaders through the use of money. Enticements of some sorts and friendship which is far from being genuine. They come like a witch at night using money as juju (charms),” he said.

President Mugabe said imperialists use such claims as human rights abuse, lack of rule of law and democracy to recolonise Africa citing the fall of Libya as an example.
“They will use that to say if you harm these norms you are guilty and in some cases so guilty as to be a victim under the International Criminal Court,” he said.

President Mugabe said the imperialists even abuse the UN charter and unprincipled individuals in countries they would have targeted to cause mayhem.
“They are always there. The unprincipled who will do anything for money. Was Jesus Christ not sold the same way? Only 30 pieces of silver, the same way. This is the situation Africa is in,” he said. President Mugabe urged unity in Zanu-PF.

“That is why we are saying to ourselves do not listen to criticism coming from the enemy. Let us follow the path we have chosen. We are masters of our own destiny,” he said.
