The Zanu-PF leadership here has embarked on a door-to-door campaign to encourage party members to get national identity cards, while registering as voters, so that they participate in next year’s harmonised elections.

Zaka Central legislator Cde Paradzai Chakona said that the leadership in his constituency had since dispatched youths to mobilise villagers to undergo the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise. The BVR registration exercise started two weeks ago.

“We have tasked our youths to conduct door to door campaigns where they are going to mobilise people to register as voters,” said Cde Chakona. “Our mandate is to encourage people to go and obtain national identity cards and get registered as voters, so that they vote in next year’s harmonised elections where we are going to win resoundingly.”

Cde Chakona said the leadership was aiming at claiming all wards in the constituency. The youths, he said, were also tasked to verify structures at village level to make sure that every Zanu-PF member participated during the next election.

“As we speak, our youths and ward executive members are on the ground mobilising villagers, telling them what we are aimed at going into next year’s election,” said Cde Chakona.

“It is very clear from the starting point that we are all rallying behind our President, Cde Robert Mugabe, and that is the message we want to broadcast in Zaka district as a whole.”
