THE Young Warriors’ camp to prepare for the All-Africa Games return match against Cameroon got off to a slow start yesterday as only half the number of the players reported for duty yesterday.

Zimbabwe national Under-23 team beat Cameroon 1-0 at Rufaro and coach Callisto Pasuwa was hoping to have some time with the players before travelling to West Africa next week.

By yesterday afternoon 14 players were in camp as some clubs continue to shun the All-Africa Games qualifiers which are not on FIFA calendar.

The team, which is now staying at a lodge in Greendale, had a workout yesterday morning as players were still coming in from their bases.

Young Warriors team manager, Charles Mukaronda, said they were expecting 25 players to heed the national team call-up.

How Mine’s Mqcini Sibanda has been called into the team while Buffaloes Admire Dzumbunu and one foreign-based player, Judah Rashirai, have been dropped. Only one foreign-based player, goalkeeper Ackim Abdul, has also joined his team mates in camp.

“We got in Sunday evening and most of the players are still trooping in. We are expecting 25 players and these are by and large the players that were with the team for the first leg. We do not have the full complement of players and this affected Monday training programme,” he said.
