Former Dynamos coach Elvis Chiweshe, who groomed most of the players who passed through the club’s youth systems, expressed shock yesterday after learning about Ndlovu’s death.
“I still can’t believe he has died just like that, he was my kid whom I worked with at Dynamos juniors.
“It is indeed a great loss to the football community.
“This young man was sent to school by Dynamos at Churchill when he was lured from Loreto High School in Kwekwe.
“He was a marvelous player to watch and I remember he featured in the Churchill team of 2008 which won the NASH Championship in which he created the wining goal.
“Apart from being a footballer, academically, he was also bright,” said Chiweshe.
According to Michael Njovu, chairman of Silo United Football Club, Ndlovu collapsed when he was about to take a free-kick.
“It was during normal play when the boy (Nqobizitha) lost balance and fell. Other players thought it was one of those delaying tactics since we were leading.
“The medics attended to him and noted that his condition was not good and we rushed him to Rutendo Poly Clinic before taking him to Kwekwe Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Njovu.
Njovu said the cause of the death was still not yet known and they were waiting for the post mortem report.
Ndlovu will be buried today at Gwelutshena, just outside Nkayi. He was born on April 26, 1990, in Harare and did his primary education at Glen View 9 Primary School before he moved to Loreto High School for his secondary studies.
Dynamos then took him to Churchill on a scholarship.
He was in the Churchill team that won the 2008 NASH Championship in Gweru.
Ndlovu was lured by Silo United while playing for KweKwe Polytechnic where he was studying electrical engineering.
Ndlovu was working for Delta Beverages.
