Sungura musician Peter Moyo turned 25 years on Monday and a music bash celebrating his birthday has been slated for Airport Lounge tomorrow night.
After the birthday bash the musician will have an after-party at Private Lounge on Sunday. Moyo said he is happy with the support he has been getting from family, friends, fans, promoters and fellow musicians since he came aboard the music ship. Below is his birthday message.

“Since the darkest day in my life, October 15 2011, when my father Tongai Moyo died, a lot has happened.

“At 25 I have been going through ups and downs considering the fact that I wanted to pursue football, with music being a nightmare. Stories have been written criticising me but that has made me a man and be strong to tackle the music industry.

“Promoters have come in the puzzle. Some of them were genuine but some wanted to gain using the name Utakataka. We have since accepted that and we have worked with them.

“I want, however, to thank promoters and the media for introducing me to the music industry after the death of my father. It was not easy for me because when my father fell ill I was just told to go and stage a gig in Botswana.

“I cannot say it all for now but the other thing is I want to thank my fans who have been with me through thick and thin. They have supported my debut album “Mushonga Mukuru” with critics giving me a platform to improve in my next project.

“To my fellow artistes I say the industry cannot be smooth without you. You have stood with me since the day I was introduced in the music industry. One thing I want to tell promoters, the band which I can regard as “Utakataka family”, fans and fellow artistes is that we all make mistakes and the most important thing is that you all try to correct me.

“The DVD for ‘Mushonga Mukuru’ is coming soon and let me also take this opportunity to tell the nation that everything is on the path for my marriage and a big wedding that is expected soon. Come and enjoy with me on this celebratory day at Airpot Lounge.
“Thank you.”
