HARARE Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni welcomed the ICC World Cup Trophy to the capital yesterday and said he hoped Zimbabwe will do well at the global showcase to the held in New Zealand and Australia next year. The Mayor was at Harare Sports Club where he welcomed the trophy to Harare as part of its global tour ahead of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup which gets underway in February.

Scores of people converged at Harare Sports Club to catch a glimpse of the trophy.
The trophy, which arrived in Zimbabwe on Tuesday in Victoria Falls before being flown to Harare later that evening remained on display at Harare Sports Club until 4pm yesterday.
The next destination for the trophy is the United Arab Emirates.

Zimbabwe will get their 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup campaign underway with a derby showdown against South Africa on February 15 in Hamilton, New Zealand, next year.
Manyenyeni had a picture taken, standing beside the trophy, and immediately used social media to show the world that he had welcomed the trophy to the capital.

“Welcome to our capital, this is the ICC World Cup,” Manyenyeni posted a caption besides his picture, standing next to the trophy, on his Facebook page.
“We are the 12th of 14 stops of the countries taking part in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

“We hope Zimbabwe will acquit itself well.”
The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup will be the 11th and it will start on February 14 to March 29, 2015. A total of 49 matches will be played in 14 venues with Australia staging 26 games at grounds in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney while New Zealand hosts 23 games in seven cities, including Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Napier, Nelson and Wellington
