A 27-YEAR-OLD woman, Mrs Mollen Makoni Nyamhotsi, is seeking US$25 000 from well-wishers to undergo a kidney transplant in India.
Mrs Nyamhotsi was diagnosed of chronic glomerulonephritis, a kidney disorder in July 2013.According to her husband, Mr Dickson Nyamhotsi, since then she had been surviving on haemodialysis done twice weekly at a cost of US$1 800 per month.

“Doctors have referred her to go to India to have a kidney transplant,” said Mr Nyamhotsi.

Preliminary tests have shown that her younger sister, Tendai Makoni, is a suitable kidney donor.

Dr Alfred Sithole who is attending to her, said that her situation required immediate attention.

“She is my chronic renal failure patient who is failing to attain treatment of choice due to financial constraints. Her kidney cannot sufficiently clean toxins from her body and she has to be operated on early,” said Dr Sithole.

Mr Nyamhotsi said that his family had exhausted all resources in order to save Mollen.

“My family has been struggling to keep up with the medical costs and related expenses. It is painful to see her health deteriorating with each passing day and to always wonder if she is going to be with us the next day or whether she will be able to help me take care of our son, Tanatswa,” said Mr Nyamhotsi.

“Your donation, no matter how small it is, will go a long way in saving her life. Our hopes and prayers are that Molly gets her health back so that she can live a normal life again,” said Mr Nyamhotsi.

The amount is expected to cover costs such as air travel, operation of the donor and the receiver and at least two months accommodation for Mollen, her sister and a relative.

Those willing to help can contact Mr Nyamhotsi on 0772343772 or 0712457979.

Wellwishers can also deposit money into FACT Rusape Standard Chartered account number 8700271510500, Rusape branch.
