It was an award winners affair at the Zimbabwe Afro and Sleek Hair Show (Zash) held over the weekend at the Harare International Conference Centre where Zima award winners Jah Prayzah and Soul Jah Love shared the stage. The two musicians recently won Zima awards and they proved why they are ranked top. First to warm the stage after the successful hair show, which saw five hairdressers walking away with fabulous prizes, was Soul Jah Love, who put up a sterling performance, leaving the crowd in awe.

Clad in an all-white designer suit, the “Ndini Uya Uya” hitmaker belted out some of his hits including “Gumkum”, “Zvaanonditira” and “Handichabatika”, among others, spicing up the celebratory mood of the revellers.

He left the crowd convinced that he deserved the Zima best dancehall award.
Not to be outdone was Jah Prayzah. As has become the norm, the “Tsviriyo” hitmaker went on stage dressed in his military regalia and introduced himself with his song “Karunyerekupe” which has of late proved to be the fans’ favourite.

He performed some of his hits including “Ngoda”, “Kumaricho”, “Makanika” and “Soja Rinosvika Kure” and he also took the opportunity to perform his latest song “Moyo Wakaoma” which is on his new DVD.

Jah Prayzah gave the audience value for their US$10 admission fee.
Thirty-six-year-old Primrose Kazunza was the overall winner with a Toyota Vito while four other hairdressers -Adiona Gatsi, Godwin Muchuchu, Fortunate Mundida and Yvonne Maviza – walked away with hampers and all-paid trips to South Africa.

Guest of honour Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi applauded those in the hairdressing industry.
“Yours is a unique job where even kings and queens remove their hats and crowns for you to do their hair, you are so special,” he said.
Organiser of the event Kudakwashe Mupawose said all the 20 contestants who took part are set to go to South Africa for further hairdressing training.
