Zim dancehall act Winky D makes a welcome return to this year’s edition of the Harare Show Cup Clash scheduled for the ceremonial home of the contest at the City Sports Centre, exactly 12 years after winning the title as the King of Zim dancehall.
Winky D, born Wallace Chirimuko is back with more vigour and stamina to serenade music lovers on the last day of the show and is prepared to break a sweat for what he loves the most.

It was back in 2002 when Winky D broke out as a DJ from Darkchild Sound System where he partnered selector Garry B.
Two years later, Winky D aka Bigiman as a solo performer then unleashed his first track titled “Ndiri Rasta” on Bonslag-produced riddim called “Luckspin”.

So the Harare Show Cup Clash brings a lot of fond memories for Winky D who is now affectionately known as the Ninja president.
He is not new to Cup Clash as he first won the title after he piped several other contenders and now its back to where it started from.

Speaking through his manager Jonathan Banda, Winky D said the crowd that will attend the Saturday Cup Clash was in for a big surprise.
“We are not performing anywhere else other than the City Sports Centre. This is where it all started and we  are delighted to be performing to the same crowd that witnessed the crowning of Winky D as Zim dancehall’s foremost chanter.

“The venue contributed a lot to what Winky D is all about and it is a must attend show,” Banda said.
Another fiery contender is none other than Seh Calaz of the “Mabhanditi” fame who promised fans a great show.

Seh Calaz who is not new to controversy is expected to spring up some surprises at the Harare Show Cup Clash.
His manager Godfrey Bakasa, said they would perform their first show at the City Sports Centre before moving to the Rainbow Towers Gardens for the popular Summer Slam gig.

“We have two major gigs this Saturday. We are performing at the City Sports Centre and then the Rainbow Towers Gardens that is all. All I can say is this is history in the making as Seh Calaz will battle it out with the best at the Harare Show Cup Clash,” he said.

Excitement is high among fans that for the first time Soul Jah Love, Winky D and Seh Calaz will settle their old scores at the secure venue.
Other highlights of the all night gig include music by a stellar line up of performers  in the likes of Shinsoman, Tocky Vibez, Dadza D, Terminator, Jah Child, Ras Pompy, Platinum Prince, Josta Man, , Bobo Fire, Spiderman and Maggikal.

The sound clash will also see Judgment Yard,  Fire Linx, Rude Lion Sound as well as Garry B and Templeman who will be rocking the masses until the late hours of the morning.

Given the magnitude of the Harare Show Cup Clash, obviously there will be several casualties especially when Zim dancehall acts Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Tocky Vibez and Shinsoman take to the stage.

The Zim dancehall throne is heavily contested especially now that there are other  contenders eyeing the title.
Show promoter Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions said the gig was aimed at showcasing the best in Zim dancehall.

“The gig doesn’t come any better than this. We have secure parking and powerful PA system with a world class stage. Over and above, fans shouldn’t worry about dust and cold,” Chipaz said.
