Sungura ace Alick Macheso has vowed not to go on Facebook and WhatsApp to protect his family. According to iHarare.com, Macheso said Facebook and WhatsApp had destroyed many families in Zimbabwe as the two were platforms for prostitution and illicit affairs. Macheso (pictured below) said people had even killed or been killed when their affairs were exposed through Facebook or WhatsApp.

“If you look at it, these days marriages are falling apart because of Facebook and this WhatsApp thing. So one needs to be careful when using these things because one can easily be lured into affairs.

“For me I will never use them because I do not want to destroy my marriage because of useless things. When you are on Facebook some women or men just send messages to destroy other people’s marriages,” he said.

But he said for unmarried people Facebook was probably good to get hitched. On his music he said his band was never going to disband.
“The name that we use is Alick Macheso, not Jonasi Kasamba. So nothing changes when other people leave. Ibhora mberi.”

Although the “Madhawu” singer has openly said he had no hard feelings over the departure of three of his key band members Obert Gomba, Noel Nyazanda and chanter Jonasi Kasamba who formed the new outfit Extra Kwazvose together with Francis “Slomo” Dhaka, a rift seems to be widening between the groups with each outing.

At one time Macheso declared he would not perform at a venue in Harare accusing the promoter of sympathising with Extra Kwazvose by allowing the group to perform at the joint. – iHarare.com/Herald Entertainment.
