Happy fashionable weekend!!! Don’t miss the sun today worrying about the rain tomorrow. One good thing about fashion is that, with it people don’t change what they are but they reveal who they are. Do you think clothes make a man or change a man?

I wonder.

So we are so abreast when it comes to trendy issues be it shoes, ties, jackets and scarves especially this winter, we have seen a lot. Some leave an unimaginable mark and we ask, is Zimbabwe ready for that fashion sense?

But never say never in fashion because you will be wearing what you have been dissing in the next two years. There is still an issue of ignorance in fashion world and fashion designers, fashioners and fashion models including photographers end up blaming themselves.

Or I can say the media should also be included in this syndrome. Anyway renowned international fashion designer from Philippine John Ablaza is in the country for a series of workshop and fashion runways.

Ablaza came last Monday and is staging his “Couture & Culture” show in Harare and Bulawayo. He is an “eco-fashion” designer specializing in fabricating garments using sustainable, local materials like seeds and coconut shells.

And this is what we have been longing for as fashion enthusiastic. I hope people are attending to avoid blame-shifts. This week I am focusing on sneakers and how they have turned out to be the most crucial statement especially this season.

Over the decades, sneakers have evolved into way more than just sports footwear.

Sneakers are gaining popularity as lifestyle footwear as sports brands produce a wider selection of styles and fashion merges with sportswear.

If you check closely, has any garment enjoyed a more impressive rise than the once-humble sneaker?

From fitness shoe to high-fashion staple, the sneakers ascent reflects some of the most significant pop-culture developments of the last few decades thus – they became associated with hip-hop culture in the mid 80s and are now a central fashion accessory.

From the impact of advertising and mass production, to the influence of hip-hop and the NBA.

We have a lot of labels which are trending from Nike Airmax, Yeezy to Fenty Puma sneakers, these are being worn with anything but remember you just need to know the trick.

The new Air Max 360 replaces all of the foam with a full-length Air Sole.

It’s like testing the air

Durability is also important when it comes to choosing the right sneaker.

I have noticed the 360s are much lighter than current New Balance running shoes (with an EVA foam midsole).

While the Nike sole is see through, it’s thicker and you can’t bend it or twist it the way you can with my EVA foam shoes.

The 360s fit snugly, especially in the heel.

Nike describes the Air Max 360 as a milestone for runners, providing a full air cushioning system in place of foam – giving runners “360 degrees of Nike Air cushioning”.

For the Yeezy sneakers I always thought the shoes were attractive, but seeing them in person gives you a new perspective.

I must give it up for the suede or gold colour as the best on Yeezy sneakers.

The suede looks fantastic, especially the Primeknit which is a solid choice for this lightweight casual shoe, and the laces are thick and hearty.

My mother said they looked a bit like dinosaur feet.

I don’t think she’’s wrong but they are cool.

I was astounded when my model friend Irvine bought his sneakers in South Africa for a whooping R2900.

In the past, I have owned Nike running shoes, Stan Smiths, so many Vans, and even shoes meant for walking, like the Nike Air Maxes or a pair of New Balances, but nothing even comes close to the Ultra Boost technology.

Yeezy sneakers, so far are the most valuable sneaker of the year thus far is none other than Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost, High Snobiety reports.

What do you expect since they have been invented by US mogul and rapper Kanye West.

The rapper and clothing designer, 39, released the glow-in-the-dark Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost Glow last month and they were sold out within one minute, according a tweet from West.

Sneakerheads paid big bucks for the highly coveted shoe, which has a resale value of $1 471, a 400 percent mark-up from its original retail price of $350.

West’s shoe tops a list of 10 kicks from Nike, Asics and Reebok, according to High Snobiety.

The Yeezy Szn 2 Crepe Boot in Taupe comes in at No.9, reselling for $610, with an original retail price of $645.

For ladies, Fenty by Puma is here and most shops already have started selling them.

Thanks to Rihanna for bringing the sexy back in sneakers.

Ever since she came on board as creative director for Puma, her ‘bad style’ designs have resonated with the general public — it certainly explains why her Fenty creepers sold out almost as soon as they dropped (and once more when she re-launched them in new colourways) or the media attention she garnered when it came to her first-ever Fenty x Puma runway show at New York Fashion Week.

The Trainer looks rather intimidating at first glance, with its exaggerated shin-high tongue, futuristic finish (made of ariaprene—a next-level breathable version of neoprene—and reflective detailing), and monochrome colour palette.

It’s a design that’s unapologetically bold, that commands attention, and that’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

According to trainer.com the Fenty x Puma which is this seasons favourite can be with tank tops, shorts with an oversize leather jacket or long dresses.

Dare not to miss this sneaker revolution
