FORMER Zimbabwe international striker Luke Petros might be poised for another dance with the Premier Soccer League Wha Wha moved four points clear of second placed Tongogara.

Wha Wha dispatched Silo United 2-0 at Hwawha Grounds on Saturday. Petros guided Wha Wha into the Premiership after they were crowned Central Region champions in 2014, but could not save the team from relegation after just one-year in the top-flight league.

The team was relegated after the club management decided to bring current Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa to lead the technical department with Petros acting as his deputy.

Petros now has the fate of the prison wardens in his hands after taking a comfortable lead in the title race. His biggest threat Nichrut, who made a huge investment into their project, are now on third position, eight points adrift of the leaders, following their weekend 2-1 defeat at the hands of second-placed Tongogara.

Ivan Hoe and ZPC Munyati are also in the race following their victories, but they are a distant nine points behind the leaders.

Club chairperson Musa Ntonga is confident of promotion, but is fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead. “We want to be playing Premiership football next season and we have the capacity to be crowned champions of Division One. “We were once crowned champions and I know it can be done.

“The Prisons and Correctional Services (department) need to have a team playing Premiership football and we are working hard to have Wha Wha back in the Premier League.

“We are not there yet. The competition in the region is very tight as other teams are also playing very well. But with the way we have been playing I know that it can be done.

“We are confident of the work being done by the technical department headed by Petros.

“The executive have been giving the team necessary support and we will continue to do so to achieve the objective of playing Premiership football again,” said Ntonga.
