Phenomenal songbird Edith Katiji aka WeUtonga has collaborated with afro jazz musician Clare Nyakudjara on single titled “Ndiwe”.
WeUtonga revealed this to The Herald Entertainment during the “Women in Jazz” concert that was held at the Book Cafe on Friday night.
WeUtonga believes their single will be received well.
“I believe our single will takes us to another level in the music industry and it will feature in our forthcoming albums.
“It is Clare who wrote it and basically it is about our friendship and how we have been supporting each other,” she said.

Clare confirmed the collaboration and said she had penned the song to show the importance of unity in the music industry and salute her friend for the work they have done together.

The “Mukuranga” hit-maker said there is need for promoters to consider women in their shows adding that female musicians should be united.
“Promoters should consider female musicians at their shows like what happened today here.

“As female artistes we should continue to work together regardless of our different genres and we must not wait for promoters only to make things happen. Let us also consider to work with rising musicians,” she said.

She has started working on her forthcoming acoustic album that will be released before year end.
At the concert, WeUtonga’s performance proved that she is a still a force to reckon with in the music industry.

She thrilled the audience with her songs like “Zeve Zeve”, “Royera Kure”, “Rudo”, “Mukaranga”, “Chipendani” and “Kwacha” which fans were dancing and singing along to.

Other artistes that performed on the night were Queen Rumbie who was the first to be on stage, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana and Jean Masters who was the last act.
The soulful singer, Katomeni-Mbofana did not disappoint as she put up a polished act.

She belted out tracks such as “Mayarira”, “Ruva Rangu”, “Bhuku” and “Moyo neTariro.
The show which was part of the Winter Jazz Festival organised by Josh Hozheri.
